On St. Patrick’s Day, we can expect a whirlwind of clichés and folklore that may or not be real – but they do lend themselves to one of the most joyful and popular celebrations in the country.
Everyone is invited to be Irish on March 17. This attitude gives credence to Oscar Wilde’s quote, “There are only two kinds of people in the world, the Irish and those who wish they were.”
Beyond whimsical stereotypes, we should keep in mind that Irish culture provided great thinkers and artists like W.B Yeats, James Joyce, and C.S. Lewis. Ireland gave us modern chemistry, the submarine, and seismology, just to name a few contributions.
From a printing perspective, physicist and Irishman John Joly was the inventor of color photography. This invention is a direct influence on why we can bring our ideas to life with quality inkjet printers.
So on St. Patrick’s Day, raise a toast to all that the Irish have contributed to the world. And if you’re looking for some office fun that involves a quality inkjet printer – another great invention – here are some printable ideas in our latest “Printerest” series:
1. St Patrick’s Day Bingo
The Irish also gave the world Guinness beer (some say it was directly handed down by the gods themselves). However, you likely won’t be able to drink any type of beer at the St. Patrick’s Day office celebration. Instead, then, have some fun with an Irish-themed bingo game:
Download the template here, and then thank the gods later for that Guinness at the pub.
2. St. Patrick’s Day Printable
Despite all their trials and tribulations across history, the Irish have pretty much trademarked and weaponized happiness. Thus, why not create for March 17 and beyond something that expresses the Irish penchant for joy in any circumstance?

3. Printable St. Patrick’s Day Word Search
Let’s get back to games, in case your mouth is still watering for some Guinness while at the work desk.
Check out this shamrock-shaped word search that contains 22 Irish/St. Patrick’s Day terms:
Words can be found up, down, diagonal, forward, and backward. Download it here, and feel free to print in color or black ink (although Joly would prefer you do it in color with a quality inkjet printer).
4. St. Patrick’s Day Cupcake Toppers
Maybe you can bring beer to work on March 17 and get the staff to join you in watching some Irish cult-classic films like The Boondock Saints or The Quiet Man. But if, instead, you feel like treating everyone to pastries, decorate them with Irish-themed cupcake toppers:
Find the template here, and the site includes more pot-of-gold ideas (there, we had to include a cliché).
5. St Patrick’s Day Photo Props
If you have any type of office celebration on St. Patrick’s Day, with or without selfies, why not print out some photo props like this one:
Download this printable and more, although you won’t find any props with the faces of C.W Lewis, James Joyce, or John Joly. You could, however, don a leather jacket and sunglasses, act holier-than-thou while holding a fistful of dollars, and tell everyone you’re Bono. We’ll leave that up to you.
We hope these ideas, at the very least, spark your St. Patrick’s Day inspiration. We hope too that this article serves as a kind reminder of all that is good from Ireland.
And if you need to honor Joly and are looking for a quality inkjet printer, please know that we can help.
